Poem Of Love Accounting

Darling you write the narration,In the journal paper of my heart,
I have written a journal entry.
Debiting your love and your affection.

Your first love, I had already adjusted
On the ledger-folio column,
Any way our relations are true assets
On double-entry system In addition,
our love is true real and tangible
You debit-what comes in,
I credit-what goes out.

Your beauty is the capital of business.
My eyes are stock in trade.
Let us enter into transaction,
You secretly give me a trade discount,
I openly give you a cash discount
And thus my partner, Our trading and
profit-loss account will show super profit

My dear let us re-concile,
all our errors and total the
trial balance of our affairs
arithmetically without maintaining
any suspense account.

In the balance sheet of our
life Our children will be our
true assets and liabilities

If they are boys, they will be our sundry debtors
If they are girls, they will be our sundry creditors
But if we have a boy and a girl,
Our balance sheet will tally automatically!
THANKS & REGARDS

Are You An Accounting Nerd? TRY THIS QUIZ..INTERESTING

There are varying degrees of accounting nerdiness. Some accounting nerds live normal lives, marry and, according to Kinsley, even propagate. Some never marry since everyone they ever dated lapsed into comas, never to be heard from again. Others are complete introverts and should never have left the convent or monastery. (The Father of Accounting, Luca Pacioli, was a monk. He never left the monastery. Ergo, he was also the Father of Accounting Nerdiness.)

Do you know how much of an accounting nerd you are? Of course you do. Or do you?! Like most accounting nerds, you probably suffer from the mistaken belief that you are not an accounting nerd at all. However, unless the confidence interval of your belief of not being an accounting nerd possesses an alpha significance value of less than 5%, then how can you be so sure that you are not a nerd after all? Let’s face facts: chances are you don’t have a clue about how nerdy you really are. And it’s totally irrelevant how you perceive yourself; rather, what is relevant is how all of your friends, associates, clients, and family members laugh hysterically and derisively about you behind your back, ridiculing you as the nerdiest geek they ever met. But they won’t ever tell you how much of an accounting nerd you are because that would ruin their enjoyment of ridiculing and laughing about you behind your back at every opportunity they get.

Perhaps it’s time for you to assess objectively your accounting nerdiness. Below are a series of questions designed to measure just how much of an accounting nerd you are. Please answer all of these questions truthfully, since if you are truly the nerdiest accountant on the entire planet, no one would care in the least bit anyway.

1. Do you examine your sales receipt before you leave the register at a store, adding it up in your mind to verify its accuracy, even though twenty people are behind you waiting in line and the store is closing?

2. After you have examined your sales receipt while at the register of a store and added up every item on the receipt to ensure its accuracy, do you then tick and vouch each item on the receipt to the actual goods in your carriage?

3. When you go out to lunch with others, when the check arrives, do you whip out your calculator and tally up each individual’s share to the penny, including tip and tax?

4. When your spouse borrows money from you, do you
a. Charge her/him interest
b. Compound the interest daily
c. None of the above

5. Did your tax filing status influence the timing of your wedding date?

6. On your honeymoon, did you select a Caribbean resort offering a CPE course in order to deduct its cost?

7. During tax season, do you
a. Bring your laptop to bed
b. Have sex via remote access
c. Practice celibacy
d. A and b
e. None of the above

8. On your office desk, do you have a picture of Spock from Star Trek?

9. Do you reconcile your personal savings account bank statement every month in QuickBooks, even though the only transaction is an interest posting?

10. Out in the field on audit assignments, when you discover a client error requiring an adjusting entry, do you scream “gotcha”, and dance around the table singing “We are the champions of the world”?

11. Do you eat lunch at your desk, dropping your food in your keyboard, and continue typing with ketchup and grease on your fingers?

If you answered no to all nine questions and selected 4c and 7e, you are not an accounting nerd; however, you probably will never pass the CPA exam and should change careers before you are fired.

If you answered no to all nine questions but selected 4b and 7c, you are not an accounting nerd but you would be advised never to marry.

If you answered yes to at least five questions, and did not select 4c or 7e, you are bi-nerd and could swing either way.

If you answered yes to all nine questions and selected 4b and 7c, you are a true accounting nerd destined to be a partner at a public accounting firm as long as you do not enter a religious order in order to avoid taxes on your wages and obtain a non-taxable living allowance.

There are four main types of accounting: public accounting, management accounting, governmental accounting, and internal auditing, each with its own financial management specialties.

Public accounting

Public accounting, also called "assurance services," is the broadest and most varied type of accounting. Public accountants practice bookkeeping, financial analysis and account management services for their clients, whether they are individuals, private businesses, public firms, government agencies or not-for-profit organizations. A public accounting business can be one accountant, a partnership involving two or more accountants, or a firm containing hundreds of accountants.

Management accounting

Management accountants are also called private accountants, or cost, industrial or corporate accountants. Rather than offering their services to the general public, this type of accountant is employed by a business or agency for the purpose of recording and analyzing the company's financial data. The accountant uses this data to carry out tasks such as asset management, budgeting, performance evaluation and cost management. They are often involved in budgeting for the release of new products, as well as in preparing financial data for investors and tax authorities. As opposed to public accountants, management accountants primarily look at past and current data in order to plan for the future.

Governmental accounting

Governmental accounting is a form of public accounting, applied to government agencies and private businesses that are subject to government regulations. Accountants in this field perform public accounting duties for these agencies, making sure revenues and expenditures are carried out according to law. Accountants employed by the Federal Government can be part of the IRS, or can be involved in budgeting and government asset management.

Internal auditing

Internal auditing accountants review their company or firm's financial management practices, checking for mismanagement, fraud and waste. They evaluate the company's budgeting and management systems and operations for performance, efficiency, and compliance to laws and regulations. Under this designation, internal auditing accountants may specialize in areas such as information technology auditing, compliance auditing or environmental auditing.

Accounting job titles

Enrolled agent (EA)

These agents are usually accountants, but not necessarily. EAs represent taxpayers before the IRS, and must pass an exam administered by the IRS. This is a popular type of accounting for new entrants in the field.

Bookkeeper

This is an entry-level position within the field of accounting, but bookkeeping is one of the most valuable services accountants can provide, as all other data depends on the accuracy of bookkeepers' work. Bookkeepers record all financial business transactions implemented by a company, keeping all financial data in organized ledgers, which they update and check regularly. They are responsible for balancing these ledgers against the company's assets, making sure every dollar is accounted for.

Accounting Clerk

Another entry-level accounting job, the role of a clerk is to maintain ledgers and prepare financial reports, reporting financial data to the management. This type of accounting can be repetitive and mundane, but is useful for learning the processes of a company's accounting department. The clerk's role usually leads to higher positions within an accounting department.

Accounting Director

Accounting directors are responsible for managing the activities of lower accountants, clerks and bookkeepers. They handle such business needs as payroll, cost accounting and other administrative tasks, and report to higher management within the accounting department.

Controller (or Comptroller)

This job title refers to a management-level accountant within a company or organization who oversees the accounting activities within the organization. These accountants oversee the company's internal accounting controls, ensuring they function properly, and is responsible for creating and enacting policies and practices within the accounting department. The controller usually reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO is a high-level accountant whose job it is to analyze the financial risks within a business or firm. They receive data from the business's accounting and finance department, using it to assess the wisdom of future financial undertakings on a company-wide level and reporting financial data to higher management. The CFO is usually part of a firm's board of directors, and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR THOSE GRADUATES WITH LITTLE OR NO WORKING EXPERIENCE

Some fresh graduates who have little or no working experience may face a similar problem, in that they cannot get experience until they get a job, but cannot get a job as they have no experience. Fortunately, many large local and multinational companies, - most of them prestigious - have their own campus recruitments targeting fresh graduates who have no working experience. One of the problems that fresh graduates face is how to attract employers’ attention and make themselves stand out. Here follows some suggestions for becoming a successful candidate.

Firstly, candidates must try to avoid low level mistakes in their CVs. When sifting through hundreds of CVs, it’s far easier to find reasons to eliminate candidates than to grant them interviews. Spelling mistakes, lack of clarity and meaning will conspire to reward the application with instant rejection, because no employer wants to have to train someone in such fundamental skills. For those graduates whose written communication skills are weak, practicing frequently is a good way to improve the written skills.

Secondly, try to make non job-related experience count. Although fresh graduates have little or no job-related working experience, they are still likely to have much to offer employers. The secret is to think about the aptitudes required in the job and consider how well their campus and social experience might have prepared them. For example, working in teams, managing time, and dealing with difficulties are skills that can be developed in campus and social activities.

Thirdly, try to make the best use of the knowledge learned during college and ACCA studies. During the interview, an interviewer always asks some job-related technical questions, and candidates need to answer these questions by using the knowledge they have learned during their studies. Some important parts of accounting and finance knowledge should be prepared before attending any interviews, and impressive answers to the technical questions can be the key to successfully being offered the job.

As the global economy goes into meltdown, recruiters are under intense pressure to justify any expenditure related to hiring staff, and more people are coming on to the jobs market. Those who make recruitment decisions are in a strong position to raise the bar when screening candidates, so it’s important for graduates with little or no working experience to try their best to improve their employability in order to get the job offer they desire.

6 tips to beat final exam stress

Have you ever seen a stress-free college student? I haven’t, unless you count the freshmen who mess up the first half of the semester, say “screw it” to the rest and never attend class again. But that’s not what I’m talking about here.

Stress is a huge part of the college experience, and it’s something we all have to deal with in life. We don’t, however, have to let it get the best of us.

This may come as a shock, but stress DOES NOT have to take over your life, no matter how many finals you have. You can still do well on your tests without wanting to die for an entire week.

I know this is a fashion site, but it’s also a site about college life, and finals are a huge part of that. Here are my top tips for keeping stress at a minimum during your hectic final exams week that is probably happening right now or very soon at your school.

Just for the record, these tips actually work, and the list doesn’t include any cliche’ crap that doesn’t, like “deep breathing exercises”.

1. Avoid stressful people.

Stress actually is contagious. During exam week, resist the urge to have a study session with your super-tense friend, especially if she’s complaining about all the work she has to do and breaking pencils all over the place. Her stress will only add to your stress.

2. Eat healthy and exercise.

This seems like a no-brainer, but it’s a wonder how many people forget it. Skip the sugar, which will make you crash, and go for snacks like granola bars, healthy cereal or fruits and veggies to keep your blood sugar stable. If you’re studying for a long period of time, eat some protein too. Also, try to get some form of exercise. Even a 10 minute walk will leave you calmer and more focused.

3. Just say NO.

I don’t mean to drugs, although I’m not recommending them or anything. What you need to say no to are the people who want to take up your time. There will probably be a friend who needs to talk to you for hours about her life, or a keg party the night before your final, and if you say yes, you’ll probably be tempted to blow off studying. Resist the urge. Say no to the distractions and be selfish for a day. You want a good GPA, right?

4. Force yourself to take breaks.

For every hour or so that you work, take a 10 or 15 minute break. Let yourself do whatever you want (check Facebook, check out that guy sitting nearby, stare off into space, call a friend, etc.) for those 10-15 mins, then start working again. This gives your brain a little rest and will help keep you more focused when you are actually doing work.

5. Visualize it all going right.

This is actually my favorite tip of all, even though it sounds kind of nuts. Imagine yourself taking the test and feeling confident that you know all the information. Picture getting all of the answers right, and focus on how relaxed you feel. Then picture the A on your test paper. When you imagine a happy ending, that’s often what happens, because you make the decisions that lead to it without even realizing.

6. If you’ve studied all you can, get up your confidence!

When test-time rolls around, it’s time to get yourself into confidence mode. You’ve prepared as much as you could, and now it’s time to ace the test. The tip here is to do whatever works to convince yourself you are going to do really well. Again, I know this tip sounds a little crazy but you just have to try it for yourself. I think you’ll like the results.

What do you think?

Do you like these tips? Do you think they’d work for you? Do you do anything similar when you study? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Zooming in on accountancy

By ALYCIA LIM

educate@thestar.com.my

MALAYSIA has set its sights on becoming a hub for accountancy studies following the Higher Education Ministry’s commitment and interest to work with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Malaysia, to attract more international students.

Deputy higher education minister Dr Hou Kok Chung who recently spoke at the national education forum held by the ACCA, said that the Ministry was keen to work not only with the association, but with the private sector and other relevant organisations to ensure that those seeking internationally-certified programmes and qualifications pertaining to accountancy, would make Malaysia their first choice.

It is a “national objective” that we hope top achieve.

The forum with the theme “The way forward: Developing Malaysia as an accountancy education hub”, brought together academics and professionals to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities on developing Malaysia as the centre in the accounting field.

ACCA Malaysia country head Jennifer Lopez said that there are currently 19 institutions in Malaysia approved under the ACCA, and only those which have gone through a quality check and up to global standards, would be approved.

“We are very serious about making sure approved institutions are of a high standard globally ... it is not enough to gauge the quality of education by local standards only.”

She said that if the country was serious about wanting international recognition, then it must be ready to compete in a level playing field.

Dr Hou said that as Malaysia strived to move up the value chain, “grooming world-class human capital such as financial professionals through talent development programmes will be vital, not only for our international image but also puts us a notch up in competitiveness.”

Great opportunities

Universiti Malaya Business and Accountancy Faculty deputy dean (Research and Development) Dr Edward Wong, who attended the forum said: “ACCA has provided many great opportunities for our students, particularly in terms of industry collaboration.”

He said that it was always good to collaborate with relevant industries to upgrade themselves with the latest developments.

Another participant, Multimedia University lecturer Samuel Jebaraj Benjamin said that he enjoyed sharing his views and listening to the opinions of others.

“I also came to hear what the the experts had to say with the many challenges ahead.”

Benjamin added that he hoped the government would participate more actively in making Malaysia become an education hub for especially in the field of accountancy.

The day-long forum addressed several issues, such as the safety and security of foreign students living in Malaysia and whether they should be allowed to stay back for work experience after they graduate.

There was also room for discussion on teaching methods at another session themed “Developing Professional Accountants: Bridging the gaps between academia and business”.

Sunway University College executive director Elizabeth Lee, who was one of the panelists said that “the method of teaching in Malaysia has to change”.

“With so much to study from the textbook, we are spoonfeeding our students, but are we infusing thinking in our teaching? Where is their room for thinking?”

The right focus

She said that it was important for students to be involved in the community, regardless of the courses they were taking, as this would help in their character- building, which was important when students started working.

ACCA Asia Pacific Education head Rhys Johnson, who was among the speakers present, spoke on “the role and value of accounting technicians in developing the accountancy profession worldwide”.

Rhys said that employers should focus on the skills of their potential employees and what they can do, rather than focusing on their academic backgrounds.

“It is good to get graduates from varied backgrounds, because you tend to get different viewpoints which is good for the company.”

However, he did not dismiss the importance of examinations.

“Exams are a benchmark to show that they have the required academic knowledge.”

With so many possible routes into the accountancy field, and input from academics and professionals alike, the forum ended on the right note with ACCA Malaysia pledging to work closely with institutions of higher learning.

“We really want to work with public and private education institutions to provide exemptions for students, and try to align the syllabus to make sure they get the most out of their course, so a forum like this definitely helps, in terms of looking at what each of us needs to work on,” said Lopez.

She added that graduates were the ambassadors of an institution, and the quality of its graduates would in effect reflect the standing and credibility of the institution.
